Avail today announced the company has signed a new contract with a leading Nordic fashion portal. The portal, which specializes in online auctions of second-hand fashion, has emerged as one of the leaders in the sector and is expanding internationally.
Under the agreement, Avail will deliver a solution for personalized product recommendations. The recommendations are intended to help site visitors navigate the huge amount of auctions available, to quickly and easily find the auctions that interest them the most, increasing the amount of sales made.
The solution will be based on newly developed functionality, so-called “clickstream recommendations”, in Avail’s technology platform Avail Behavioral Merchandising/tm;. This functionality identifies other visitors with a similar taste and displays auction listings that they have shown an interest in. In this way, Avail’s technology solves the problem with generating relevant product recommendations even though each auction is unique and is only available during a very short time span.
“Auction sites are a large and growing segment within online retailing, and during 2010 we have seen a large interest from the segment in personalized product recommendations. We have developed our technology to suit the online auction context, and this breakthrough order will give us an excellent customer reference”, said Pontus Kristiansson, CEO and co-founder of Avail.
